While there are many products you can find in stores today to help reduce the appearance of scars, you may find that many of them contain several ingredients that might wreak havoc on the skin. While many of them contain Vitamin E which is known to help reduce the appearance of scarring, you will find that this hasn’t actually been proven in any studies.

So, if the over the counter product is claiming to prevent scars, you should know that there is no scientific evidence to back up and support this claim.

What can you do to help scar healing at home with more natural remedies? The following are a few DIY recipes for scar healing that you will find to be easier and safer to use and more affordable than the traditional over the counter scar creams that many people flock to.

Make Your Own Vitamin E Oil

For this recipe, you will need one and a half cups of Aloe Vera gel, twenty drops of rosehip oil, twenty drops of frankincense oil or patchouli oil, a third of a cup of coconut oil, and one and a half tablespoons of tamanu oil.

Combine all these ingredients and massage the solution into your skin. The frankincense oil helps fight the appearance of scarring, and the rosehip oil is high in essential fatty acids which can effectively heal and treat dehydrated skin. We all know how important it is to keep the area moisturized to help prevent scarring and this essential oil significantly helps.

The Aloe Vera helps to reduce any inflammation, swelling or redness that may be occurring on the skin. It can also help regenerate damaged tissues and boost the healing process.

This solution is also considered a dry oil so the skin will absorb it and you won’t be left with any greasy residue on the skin after use. It can be used anywhere on the body where you may have a scar.

Tea Tree Oil Recipe

Tea tree oil is also good for healing scars because of its many antiseptic, antibacterial, antifungal, and antiviral properties. Combine four drops of tea tree oil with coconut oil and rub the mixture onto the affected skin at least twice a day.

Helichrysum essential oil is also good if you want to diminish the appearance of scars because it also has antibacterial properties like the tea tree oil.
