Want to hear our best Castor Oil tips & tricks?
Then you’ll want to stick around!
Castor oil is a multi-purpose vegetable oil that has been used in alternative medicine for thousands of years. It has plenty of benefits and uses and is also one of our favorite carrier oils.
Castor oil is derived from the beans of the castor plant (Ricinus communis) and was used as far back as the ancient Egyptians to treat a variety of issues such as constipation, eye irritation and even to induce labor. However, we now know that the seeds contain a toxic enzyme called ricin that is not safe for ingestion, even in the smallest doses. But don’t worry! Just like the Egyptians figured out, the heating process required to make the castor oil renders the ricin harmless, making castor oil completely safe!
So now let’s talk about some of our favorite benefits of castor oil!

Castor oil can also be used as a castor oil pack, which involves soaking a piece of cloth or flannel in castor oil. Then you add a plastic wrap over it and a hot water bottle to heat the pack. Castor oil packs are typically used on the abdominal area and can help enhance circulation and detoxification of the organs.
