We’ve all had those horrifying mornings when you wake up to spots scattered all across your face. Like most problems prevention is often the best option, however if that stage has past then it’s time to concoct yourself a treatment.
Why do we get acne?
To understand how to treat acne you must first know why it occurs. Within your pores are glands that produce a secretion known as sebum. Sebum serves to hydrate and protect your skin. When your pore becomes clogged due to dirt, or dead skin the sebum cannot escape causing your skin to swell. Bacteria then feed on this to amplify the effect. Redness is caused by an immune system response to fight off bacteria.
Treatment
Step 1: Cleanse
In order to stop pimples, you will need to ensure you pores aren’t getting blocked. Cleaning your face will help get rid of dirt, excess oil, pollution from the environment, and bacteria.
Step 2: Exfoliate
Exfoliating is particularly good at helping get rid of dead skin cells. Exfoliating will also help you renew you skin cells faster. Facial Clay will help exfoliate your skin gently, it also contains natural anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatories.
Step 3: Moisturize/protect
It is important to have clean skin before applying moisturizing products. If your skin is dirty it will only trap in the dirt, dead skin cells, and bacteria.
Cosmetics, and the wrong kind of moisturizers or oils can clog your pores. First you have to assess your skin type. Is your skin normal, dry, oily, or a combination? If your skin is overly oily then you’ll want to stick with lighter moisturizers. If it’s dry, then heavy moisturizers are required.
Our acne range has a lighter day time moisturizer with a light mat finish. This is also great for those with oily skin. While our night time range is deeply moisturizing, and loaded with 100% natural essential oils. Our range contains acne fighting essential oils such as Tea Tree, Lavender, and Patchouli.
Step 4: Target your acne
Use our Acne Corrector to fight against the bacteria, and inflammation. Packaged in an easy to use role on applicator. Make sure your face is clean, and apply it to your acne. Then leave it alone, and make sure you don’t touch it, as that could bring more bacteria to the location.
If all else fails
If you continue to have chronic acne problems despite a change in skincare, and diet. Then it could be very well related to hormones, and genetics. The last ditch solution here is medication, which can come with side effects. So proceed with caution. You will need to check with a dermatologist for further recommendations here.
